Second place. I ended on the second place. I was chipleader all the tourney, and I started the final table with half of the chips on play, but I ended second!!! well... I know it´s more than enough to be happy, but I can´t help feeling little dissapointed...
My opponent on the Heads up was little tricky... I can´t read him, it was impossible. He made those great moves and made me think like “ok, if he´s doing this he has to be a genius or have a monster hand” I made calls thinking he was making a move on me, but he always had a monster hand!! but is impossible for anyone to catch as much as he is supposed to, so, I have to be missing something and have to admit he was better than me.
We started the Heads Up with the same stacks, he took the lead soon and won an advantage of 5 to 1 on one of those hands I couldn´t read. I took back my chips, but then he stroke me again, and then busted me out when I bluffed pretending a flush in a board with three spades... I moved all-in and he thought a while to call me whith AA.
Well, it´s ok. You can always learn something, and besides I took a nice piece of the prize. I´m taking back my confidence, my “apettite” and get stronger to Vegas, so, I should be happy enough.
Bad experience came when Pablo and I get to the final table together. We can see us making the Heads Up together, but the poker god is fanciful and little bastard and on the last hand of the second day he gave me AA and Pablo AK, so it happened to be me the one who eliminate him of the tourney.
Besides that, tourney was really great.
With less players than expected because somebody thought it could be
a great idea to schedule another big tourney in Spain for the same
days than this one... I really can´t understand that... but we
had players enough, with a lot of foreign players (french and durch
people mostly, and foreing people who lives in Las Palmas) and a nice
prizepool. The tourney is awesome, with a very good structure, very
playable and great players, as always.
Experience get perfect not only because of the
sun, pool, and everything, but because of the people I could met over
there too. I had the "honor" to met Pepe Sánchez, one of those
“legend” players who have been playing this since before I was
born... the old school players. Pepe was living in Vegas for a long
time and he had more stories at his back than he could told me. I
laught so much with him....
Jet-Lag made me feel sleepyness everynight, while I was exhausted anyway, so this and the adrenaline, and everything get me to those crazy conversations throught the night and a lot of laughs during breakfasts...
There were a lot of very good players, lot of Everest Poker cash players who made it more difficult to us than expected... Everybody enjoyed a lot the tourney and i can guess we´re meeting again most of them at Valencia, on the next SPT stage.
The next one is right after my Vegas trip, and this one is going to be mine!
You can see the winner, photos, and some reports on Everest Poker Blog.
